Up Next: A Big Life Change

Since our last post in Thanksgiving, MUCH has changed in our lives.  So much so, that we pretty much forgot about blogging for awhile.

Instead of giving the meticulous details from the past nine months, let’s stick to the highlights… in December, we discovered that we are PREGNANT!

We are expecting our first little addition in a matter of days – our due date is Sunday, August 25 (13 days from today, to be exact).  We have yet to finalize a name for the little guy but have a good list to choose from once we meet him.

During the past nine months, we’ve had many discussions about our upcoming life changes.  We have decided that I (Abigail) will stay home with the bambino so have recently left my job in Experiential Marketing.  Though my friends at work have been VERY supportive and I’m excited to spend time with our son, I will also miss them tremendously.

On my last day at work, I was pleasantly surprised with a nice going-away breakfast and generous gift family pass to the Cincinnati Zoo in addition to a Powerhouse Factories onesie.

During my time at home since leaving work, I’ve stayed as busy as possible with DIY projects.  First, we realized that with a baby in the house, it might be inappropriate to have our liquor stash out in the open in our Dining Room (ha).  While the brand new curio cabinets we looked at were beautiful, I have too much pleasure in taking trash to treasure so we began our hunt for the perfect piece.

We found the below curio cabinet for $40 on Craigslist.  Score!  Luckily we had all of the painting supplies in the garage already so after meticulous use of blue and green tape, we brushed on one coat of white primer and two coats of white paint.  Which so happened to be the same white we used on the walls in the Dining Room.  Since the top doors are made of glass, we painted the back interior of the cabinet grey (from the top part of our Dining Room walls).  New hardware from online and voila!  We’re so pleased with our work!

We’ve also been working on the nursery.  More on that later, but one of our great finds was this $16 brass lamp and shade from the local Goodwill.  A can of Rust-Oleum spray primer and a couple of coats of navy blue spray paint later, and we have the perfect lamp for the baby’s room.

With these two main projects complete, my mission is now to focus on deep cleaning our home and preparing for the bambino!
